Ramalhan
Those who conceal the clear (Signs) We have sent down and theguidance after We have made it clear for the people in the book on them shallbe Allah's curse and the curse of those entitled to curse.
Quran : 2-159
They askthee concerning the new moons. Say: theyare but signs to mark fixed periods of time in (the affairs of) men and forpilgrimage.
Quran: 2-189
It is He Whomade the sun to be a shining glory and the moon to be a light (of beauty) andmeasured out stages for her: that ye might know the number of yearsand to calculate(time). Nowise did Allah create this but in truth and righteousness. (Thus) doth He explain his Signs in detailfor those who understand.

The sun and the moon follow courses (precisely) calculated;

Most of us are aware of the Prophet(s.a.w’s) saying “sight the moon and start yourfasting, and sight the moon and stop your fasting, or complete 30 days” - there is no doubt in this what so ever; whatwe should understand is that sighting the moon is not an amal (virtuous deed) it is just the things we dobefore and after sighting the moon that are to be taken intoconsideration; For example aftersighting the moon starting our fasting or celebrating our Eid is what counts,for at no incidence what so ever did the Prophet go out to sight the moon, healways gathered the information from trusted resources and acted upon it.
Secondly, we people are far far, more advanced technologicallythan our forefathers – during the time of the Prophet(s.a.w) there were no aeroplanes, trains, ships of such giganticnature, telephones, watches, computers, satellites, electronic telescopes,cameras etc., etc., etc., now consider yourself as a true Muslim, and use yourcommon sense – would you be wise and use these facilities and technologies tobetter your understanding, or would you be foolish enough to say,Prophet(s.a.w) did not use these facilities so we should not use them also;please do understand, that during the time of the Prophet(s.a.w) there were nocalendars by which you could see future time and date, all they had were thepresent or past history, by which they calculated their time, and once againplease understand, they were approximate and not precise and accurate as wehave them today. One more thing those who do not accept the calculation of thesun and the moon, should also not follow calendars, for all calendars are calculations based onthe sun or the moon’s rotation and revolutions.
Thirdly, when Rasool (s.a.w) says sight the moon, it does notmean that one should only see the birth of the crescent moon by his naked eye,we could also sight the moon thru various scientific gadgets which will not lieto us or give us false information’s like the satellite or the electronictelescope; on the other hand they would guide us and aid us with very very accurateand precise information’s which would enable us to uniformly and collectivelyestablish the Islamic truth without ever making us go astray, Islam has alwaysstood for Truth, and any true findings will never be against Islam or itsprinciples – if Islam cannot stand for Truth then it cannot be the Great LordsGuidance to mankind. Remember one thing Islam does not teach you ignorance, itis only the ignorant Alims who in their ignorance misguide and segregate theMuslims and make you ignorant.
For example the Saudi Calendar is short by a day, the new moon forRamalhan is on Thursday 20th August 2009 at 10:01:35 (universal time+[plus] or – [minus] your country’s time zone difference) hence the first dayfor fasting would be the following day Friday the 21st August 2009but as per the Saudi calendar Ramalhan’s first fasting day would be on Saturdaythe 22nd August 2009 thereby losing a very very valuable Ramalhanday. Please do understand people who do not believe in the precise andaccurately calculated data have no right to use a calendar ( which iscompletely based on calculations) and if they are using calculations they mightas well go by the most precise and accurately calculated data that is availableon the web, or have their own satellite and electronic telescope to determinethe accurate data of the sun and moon’s rotation and revolutions whichprecisely determines the accurate birth of the crescent which in turn wouldgive a uniform single calendar for the whole ISLAMIC World.
A most important fact is: Al Quran Sura 9 – Verse 36 & 37 –where Allah says that misappropriating one month for another amounts to shirk –Allah is specifically telling us to go by the precise calculations and calleach day with its respective month and not to call it otherwise – this is whatis really confusing the people all over the world, if we were to take theaccurate precise calculations then we cannot be incorrect or erroneous in determining each day accurately and callingit precisely with its respective month. So dear brothers and Sisters in Islamdo not miss your first day of your valuable Ramalhan it is on Friday the 21stAugust 2009 for all part of the Globe without any variations except for thesmall time difference between each country. and please spread this as far andwide as possible to all our Muslim brothers and sisters across the Globe andhelp them to fast and pray their Eid prayer on the same day uniformly, just aswe pray our Jumma prayer thru out the world on the very same day.
